In 2005 I co-authored a book with my first mentorDr Ruth Debusk, It’s Not Just Your Genes, we wanted everyone to understand that our genes are just a baseline, an insight into how we respond to our diet and environment, but the real power lies in each and every choice we make. Every food we eat, every time we move, every response to a stressful event, changes gene expression. So it’s not just about our genes.
This blog is also not just about genes. The future of health and health care is changing in an exponential manner, and genetics is just one part. What better than to have a place to share my opinions and thoughts on what Iencounter.
And …… yes this blog is Not Just About Genes, it’s also about swimming, one of my greatest passions. I swim at every opportunity, in every possible body of water, and when I travel I swim. There is a great deal to be said about the experience of wild swimming and especially cold swimming. So in this blog I get to talk about genetics and swimming! A definite first.
